Privacy at Network Conditions
This is a static publication with no accounts, no analytics and no advertising. What follows is an honest description of the few things that still touch a third party when you read a page here.
Network Conditions publishes documents. There is nothing to sign up for, nothing to log into, and no feature on this site that requires knowing who you are. That removes most of the reasons a website normally collects anything, and this page describes what is left.
What the site itself collects
No accounts, no profiles, no analytics product, no advertising network, no tracking pixels, and no cookies set by this site for any purpose. There is no contact form, so nothing is submitted to a server here. If you write to the desk, that message lives in an ordinary mailbox and nowhere else.
What the hosting provider sees
Serving a page requires a server, and servers keep access logs. A log entry typically contains an IP address, a timestamp, the page requested, a referrer if your browser sends one, and a user agent string. This is standard for any website and is used for operating the site rather than for building a picture of a visitor.
Third parties involved in loading a page
Three external requests happen when you load a page here, and each one means the operator of that service can see your IP address and the fact that a request was made.
- Bootstrap stylesheets and script are loaded from a public content delivery network.
- Bootstrap Icons are loaded from the same content delivery network.
- Google Fonts supplies the three typefaces used across the site.
These are conveniences rather than necessities, and they are named here so you can make your own decision about them. A content blocker will prevent all three; the site remains readable without them, with different typography and slightly plainer layout.
Links that leave this site
Reports link to primary documentation, to operator status properties and to third-party products. Following any of those links puts you on somebody else's site under somebody else's policy, and this desk has no visibility into and no control over what happens there. Links to third-party products are marked as opening in a new tab, and their presence is not an endorsement of the product or its results.
What is never done here
- No selling, renting or sharing of visitor data, because none is collected to sell.
- No fingerprinting scripts, session recording or heat mapping of any kind.
- No email collection, newsletter capture or notification prompts.
- No requests for wallet connections, signatures or any interaction with your keys.
- No advertising, retargeting or affiliate tracking parameters on outbound links.
Reducing exposure further
If you would rather no third party saw a request at all, a content blocker that stops the font and stylesheet hosts is sufficient, and nothing on this site depends on scripts to display its content. Reader mode works on every report. Saving a page for offline reading works as well, since the text is the whole product.
Changes to this page
If the site ever adds something that touches a third party, this page changes first and says what was added and why. There is no plan to add analytics; if that ever changes, it will be described here in the same plain terms rather than folded into a longer document nobody reads.
